Francis S. Olszewski
MERIDEN - Francis S. Olszewski, 96, husband of 65 years to Mary H. (Wolkowicz) Olszewski, died peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Masonic Health Care Center. Born in Naugatuck on Sept. 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Stanley and Veronica Olszewski. He had resided in Meriden for the past 70 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, 1st Division in Europe and Africa. He received a bronze star. Mr. Olszewski was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Polish Knights. Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by two sons, Francis (Tina) Olszewski Jr., of Wallingford, and Patrick (Anne) Olszewski, of Middlefield; two grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Olszewski, of Rockfall and David (Kirstin) Olszewski, of Durham; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cole, Madeleine, Audrey, and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Estelle Bianco and Helen Butkas. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
