Frances Kemp Gainesville, FL Frances Pickle Kemp, age 97, died January 26, 2017 at HarborChase Assisted Living, Gainesville, Florida. Frances was a native of Bedford County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Robert Evans and Annie McCord Pickle. She was preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters, most recently her sister, Ann Pickle Bowen who died January 28th, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Major (Ret) Air Force Walter L. Kemp who resides in Gainesville, Florida; one daughter Connie Kemp Thomas and her husband Mike Thomas of Alachua, Florida; one Grandson, Todd S. Harris, his wife, Jala of Gainesville, Florida; two Great Grandsons, James Harris and William Harris of Gainesville, Florida, Nieces and nephews across the United States. Mrs Kemp was a 1937 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School, retired from Miller Insurance Agency and as an administrative assistant to the Social Worker at the Veteran's Hospital. In January 19, 1947 Frances joined the Captain William Lytle Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and was also a long term member of the Murfreesboro Women's Club. Mrs. Kemp was a member of the Stones River Chapter MOAA. Mrs. Kemp was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Rockvale, Tennessee. Mrs. Kemp and her husband Walter met on a blind date on Valentines Day February 14, 1950, a Valentine dance, at the Cedars of Lebannon State Park. Major Kemp is a WWII Veteran pilot who accomplished 10,000 hours of flight time. They traveled the world together. Frances was a supportive Officer's Wife, a wonderful cook, and a gracious hostess. Frances was a loving mother to their daughter, and was very adept at handling the unique challenges that arose while being stationed around the world. "Go With The Flow" was her favorite saying. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Rev. Bob Tuttle will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
