In memory of
Frances Broerman, a descendant of pioneer California families, died April 4, 2017. Mrs. Broerman was born in San Luis Obispo on January 13, 1929, to Fred and Maxine Bovee. She was a descendant of Devillow Bovee and his wife Mary Ethel Leffingwell Mayfield Bovee of San Simeon and Cambria. Her great-great-grandfather was Don Jose de la Guerra y Noriega, the noble Spaniard and 5th Commandante of Santa Barbara Persidio. Frances was a quiet, kind person with a gentle soul that made everyone feel welcome and was much loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed teaching guitar at the San Luis Obispo night school and playing guitar at the United Methodist Church in San Luis Obispo, where she also served as secretary for 25 years. The past few years Frances enjoyed her weekly trips to Tognazzini's Dockside for fish and chips with her brother-in-law Ken Jones. Frances is survived by her beloved grandson Connor Murphy; sister Mary Souza; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand- nephews and friends who will all miss her. Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at United Methodist Church in San Luis Obispo. Sign her guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries
