Floyd Ray Woodford (Poppa Ray) long time resident of League City, TX passed away suddenly Tuesday February 14, 2017. Poppa Ray was born Floyd Ray Woodford on July 13,1939 in Bedford Virginia to William Garland Woodford and Roberta Belle Woodford. Poppa Ray enjoyed his daily routine of starting his day with his cup of coffee and his morning newspaper at Cat Corner, leaving there to continue on with his â€œdaily roundsâ€ of hitting all his favorite places during the day normally ending his day at The American Legion Post 554 in League City, where he was a lifetime member. Which he also ran the poker tournaments on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Poppa Ray is Preceded in death by his son Ronnie Wayne Woodford; parents Garland and Roberta Woodford; brother Sherrill Woodford (Virginia), sister Janet Howard (Virginia), brother Gene Woodford (Tampa, Florida) brother Billy Cooley (Mansfield, Ohio) sister Becky Bekeleski (Mansfield, Ohio) and sister Brenda Swander (Mansfield, Ohio). He is survived by his sons Ray Lynn Woodford and wife Kathy, of League City, TX and Donald Carl and wife Lori, of Webster, TX. Along with his sons he also is survived by his â€œbaby girlsâ€ granddaughters; Julie Garrett, Angela Grindele and grand-son-in-law John; Megan Hagdorn and grandson-in-law Stephen; Leslie Woodford and fiancÃ© Aaron Tovar, Domonique Kennedy, and Natalie Woodford. Five going on six great grandchildren. Luke Garrett, Emilee Grindele, Riley Robertson and Baby Hagdorn due July 2017, Raymond Tovar and Gavin Kennedy. He is also survived by brother Butch Cooley (Mansfield, Ohio) brother David Cooley(Arkansas) sister Margaret Czepiel (Thonotosassa, Florida) and sister Betty Herrod (Largo, Florida) along with numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life for Poppa Ray was held Sunday Feb. 26,2017 at 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 554, Highway 3 South, League City, TX. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Legion.
