FLOYD M. "CHIEF" NEVLING
NEVLING FLOYD M. "CHIEF" Age 81, on Monday, February 13, 2017, of Pleasant Hills. Beloved husband of 18 years to Janet K. Nevling; loving father of Pamela (Robert) Rubisch, Patrick Nevling, James (Heather) Solava and Matthew (Erin) Solava; our pappy of Robert, Emma and Andrew Solava. Floyd served in the U.S. Marines for four years, after which he joined the Allegheny County Police in 1963. In 1980, he was promoted to Inspector and became known for his role with the homicide division. He then became Chief of Police in Pleasant Hills from 1992 until his retirement in 2007. Floyd was involved with FOP #91, the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, was a Mason and president of the food bank. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday in Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m., followed by full military honors.
