Nov. 10, 1923 - April 14, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Florine Zaccanti Allen peacefully went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born November 10, 1923, in Tulsa, OK to Virgil and Louise Zaccanti. Her family moved to the small town of Gowen, OK when she was 13. Florine graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1940. After graduation, she worked at Montgomery Ward in McAlester, OK, where she began her career as a bookkeeper. During her lifetime, she worked in that capacity for Meadow Gold Dairy, Fleet Air, and Sunbeam Family Services. She retired at the age of 75 from Endodontic Associates. In all those years, it was said that she made sure the company books balanced "to the penny." Three months after a blind date, Florine married Roger Allen and their 72-year life together began. Florine was a vivacious woman who could do anything she put her mind to. She was a wonderful cook who passed on her special Italian recipes in a cookbook she gave to her children and grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress who won awards at the Oklahoma State Fair and The Daily Oklahoman Golden Needle Award for her creations. She was proud of her beautiful flower garden and shared cuttings with anyone who asked. She was fiercely patriotic, and along with Roger, she loved taking her beloved grandsons on road trips throughout the United States to inspire in them the same love for our country. Florine was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a member of their Altar Society. Along with Roger, she was active in the Central Oklahoma Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War, serving as their treasurer for several years. Florine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Leona and her brother, Alfred. She is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughters, Sherry Beasley (Lee) and Christie Allen; grandsons, Bryan Beasley (Coco), Justin Beasley (Kerri), and William Beasley (Adria); and great- grandchildren, William, Ashlyn, Samuel, Evalynne, Sicilia, Vivian, Theodore, Layla, and Hazel. The family extends a heartfelt thank-you for the compassionate care of the staff at Quail Ridge Senior Living, especially Tertia Cooks and Integris Hospice House. Viewing will be at Smith and Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave., Tuesday, April 18 with a Prayer Service in the Chapel at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at Christ the King Catholic Church, and Graveside Services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Donations in her honor may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or The Allen Family Scholarship at the University of Central Oklahoma.
