Weiler, Florence Florence A. (Abitz) Weiler, 78, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her Rib Mountain home. She was born February 26, 1938 to the late Martin and Isla (Smart) Abitz. She was a graduate of Wausau High School. In May of 1964, she married the love of her life, the late David V. Weiler and together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage, prior to his passing almost 2 years ago. They enjoyed traveling out West to mine gold and hunt, with Florence cooking for the hunters. They worked together on different ventures in life, including sawing wood in their own saw mill. While they never had children of their own, their many nieces and nephews were like their own children. Florence always had a cup of coffee ready for visitors and was ready to play Scrabble, Rummy, or Farkle. She enjoyed phone calls and writing letters to longtime friends. She loved gardening, picking blackberries, canning, her chickens, and country music. Playing classic country music on her guitar and singing along with other family members was something that was enjoyed throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Isla; husband David; a sister Helen Ryan; and a brother Milton Abitz. She is survived by her sisters Virginia (Edwin) Bucknell, Mae (Delos) Winter and Ramona Knight; her brothers Arnold (Connie) Abitz and Eugene Abitz; sister-in-law Kathleen Abitz; and brothers-in-law, Kalto "Kelly" Weiler and Mark Weiler. In addition, she is survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews, nieces and longtime family friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 14, 2017 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 1104 S. 9th Ave., Wausau. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Brainard Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
