Fernand Marcel Ducharme
Fernand Marcel Ducharme, 74 of East Hartland passed away with his beloved wife by his side on Wednesday February 8, 2017. Fernand was husband of Veronica (Hamel) Ducharme for over 54 years. He was born in Wotton Quebec, Canada on August 23,1942 and was the son of late Cyprien and Marie Jeanne (Derochers) Ducharme. He has been an East Hartland resident for over 40 years. Fernand worked as a Heavy machine equipment operator and Supervisor for Simscroft Construction Company for over 47 years. Fernand was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who treasured his time with his family and friends. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and traveling. He was known as the " Bassmaster" due to his great fishing abilities. He also loved Nascar racing and Uconn Basketball. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him, especially his big smile. In addition to his wife Veronica of East Hartland, he is survived by 3 daughters, Carmen Ducharme Fitzner and her husband Joseph of East Hartland, Nancy Ducharme Copeman and her husband Mark of West Hartland, and Lynne Ducharme Smith and her husband Brett of Manchester; his brother Gaston Ducharme of Canada, and 2 sisters , Jeannette Hamel and Florence Beaulieu, both of Canada; his 8 grandchildren, Jason Mele, Amanda Reid, Jennifer Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Karen Baril, Melissa Wadsworth, Amity Baril, Cameron Copeman; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at MeadowBrook in Granby, CT for their compassionate care and love of Fernand. They also would like to extend their gratitude to the Masonicare Hospice staff who made his final days comfortable and peaceful. We also want to thank the Girard family of Simscroft Construction for their longtime friendship and love. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14 from 5 PM to 8 PM followed by a prayer service at 8 PM at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St Granby. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
