F. Drucilla B. Hardnett July 17, 1937 - October 7, 2016 Macon, GA- Services for Drucilla B. Hardnett will be 12:00 noon Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Beulahland Bible Church, 1010 Newberg Avenue, Macon,GA 31206 with burial in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Hutchings Funeral Home. The beginning of Drucilla's life began with the marriage of Isaac M. Brown and Evelyn Butts Brown. She was the only child of the parentage. Evelyn fondly referred to her as Ms. Dru. She was reared with love and taught to always place God as the head of her life. She was reared in a God fearing climate. She was an avid attendee of New Hope Baptist Church where she was baptized and later joined the First Baptist Church where her mother was a life-long member. Being a believer, she continued her path of church involvement with churches in the Bibb County area. In 1994, she connected with Beulahland Bible Church. She was very active in the Christian Educational Ministry until her health issues resulted in her retiring from this ministry. She was approved as a trustee in 1995 and in 2005 was appointed as Chairman of the Trustee Board where she served with loyalty and dignity to her pastor/church. She was reared with love and taught to always place God as the leader in her life. She began her educational instructions at the St. Peter Claver Elementary School, a graduate of the class of 1950 and a graduate of Ballard Hudson Senior High School, Class of 1954. She continued her education at Xavier University for a year and continued her travel in her educational arena at Knoxville College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She continued her educational studies at Fort Valley State University receiving a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling. She was an instructor of Social Studies in Bibb County Schools for the early part of her teaching career. In 1960¸she taught at Peter G. Appling Senior High School until the Bibb County Schools desegregated and was transferred to the Central Complex. For fifteen years, she was a counselor in the Northeast Complex. Later, she attended Georgia State University and received a Specialist Degree in Education. She finalized her career in education in an administrative position, and retired in 1990. In 1995, she again embarked in teaching at the Macon Youth Development Center. She remained in this role until 2001 and then became totally retired. Dru, Ms. Dru, Mama Dru as she is fondly called believed in the scriptures, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." To God be the Glory For all He Has done for her. Dru, as she was fondly called by family and friends loved her family, pastor, church family and friends. "Dru" had an endearing love for her granddaughter and grandson. Her years of endearment were for her church and her family. She was a member of several organizations including Macon Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Prince Hall Square Chapter #61 Order of Eastern Star and the Professional Association in Education, Phi Delta Kappa International. She also served on the Planning and Zoning Board of Bibb County for five years (1990 – 1995). She is survived by her son, Curtis M. Hardnett, daughter-in-law, Tara Hardnett, two loving devoted grandchildren, Kayla and Davin, and a host of relatives and friends. Hutchings Service. View the online memorial for F. Drucilla B.
