In memory of
Fannie Mae Cannon
Fannie Mae Cannon "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". Fannie Mae Cannon, fondly known to all as "Muh" departed this life on Friday October 7th, 2016 at the age of 86. She was surrounded by family and friends as she peacefully went home to be with the Lord. "Muh" was born in the Green County community on October 19, 1929 to the late Ella and Benjamin Edwards. She was raised in the Winterville community where she met her late husband, Awnnie Othirious Cannon. "Muh" was a dutiful homemaker until 1966 when she became a teacher assistant for Pitt County Schools at W. H. Robinson. She continued her employment in that capacity until she retired in May of 1990. "Muh" accepted Christ in her life at an early age being baptized as a child at Good Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Winterville North Carolina where she served on the usher board for many years. She later became a member of Cherry Lane Free Will Baptist Church where she was ordained as a Mother of the Church. The Born 2 Win Ministries was where "Muh" continued to serve the Lord. "Muh" was also preceded in death by two sons Melvin Edwards and Bob Cannon, three brothers Alonzo Edwards, Aaron Edwards, Reloyd Edwards, and one sister Vernestine Edwards. "Muh" leaves to cherish her life and memories : three daughters, Argie Cannon of the home, Linda Jones of Winterville, North Carolina, Patricia Cannon of Greenville, North Carolina, and two granddaughters, Latanya Daniels(Todd) of Ayden, North Carolina and Kendra Rolle(Anwar) of Durham, North Carolina, one son Stanley Dawson(Kathy) of Havertown, Pennsylvania, one sister Joyce Edwards of Ayden, North Carolina, 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and Laforrest Hammond, who has been a dear friend for many years as well as a caretaker for "Muh" since her health began to decline a few years ago. Fannie Mae Cannon ("Muh") lived a fulfilled life. She was a homemaker cooking the best of everything for her family and anyone else in the neighborhood who wanted or needed to come eat with us. There was always enough food for everyone! "Muh" worked and raised her children all while enjoying life. She liked to take trips with her family and go on group trips with church or with friends and relatives. "Muh" will truly be missed by us all but we can rejoice knowing she is now at peace and resting while watching over us in Heaven.
