F. JOSEPH ELLIOTT WAPAKONETA — F. Joseph Elliott, 80, of Wapakoneta, died 7:11 p.m., Tues. Oct. 11, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 3, 1936, Auglaize Co., the son of Richard A. & Adelia (Fisher) Elliott, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Marlene S. Ramga, and she survives. Other survivors include, 3 children, Ronald (Lisa) Elliott, Anna, OH, Timothy (Karen) Elliott, Austin, TX, Eric Elliott, Wapakoneta, 6 grandchildren, Sierra, Allison, Jack, Lauren, Megan, & Colin Elliot, a brother, Deane (Phyllis) Elliott, Wapakoneta, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, George Neargarder, Mary Katterheinrich, Alfreida Ramga, Imogene Roser, Virginia (Jerry Schneider) Hardesty, Phyllis Ramga, Charles (Janice) Ramga. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dana Lynn, siblings & spouses, Helen Louise (Ray) Schaub, Pat Neargarder, Jim (Ginny) Elliott, Jack (Rita & Mary) Elliott, & Bill (Verna) Elliott. Joe was an electrician and owned and operated Elliott Electric, Wapakoneta. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the eagles, Aerie #691. A 1954 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Joe served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. He was active in sports throughout his life. While in high school, he participated in basketball, baseball, football, and track. He also played slo-pitch softball until the age of 56. Joe coached CYO basketball and officiated high school basketball. He worked the dunking booth at the St. Joseph Festival for many years and also helped with the Squires and Boy Scouts. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan and supported them by attending their sporting events and activities. The family greatly appreciates the care and support of Dr. Joanne Jeter, James Cancer Center, Columbus; the nurses and staff from St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima; and Dr. Mathew Jose of Wapakoneta. The special care of the St. Rita's Hospice to comfort his last days at home, beyond our greatest expectations. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Sat. Oct. 15, 2016, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Fri. and 9-9:45 a.m., Sat. at the the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave. (St. Rt. 501), Wapakoneta.
