F. Joseph Elliott
WAPAKONETA — F. Joseph Elliott, 80, of Wapakoneta, died 7:11 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 3, 1936, Auglaize County, the son of Richard A. and Adelia (Fisher) Elliott, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Marlene S. Ramga, and she survives. Other survivors include three children, Ronald (Lisa) Elliott, Anna, Ohio, Timothy (Karen) Elliott, Austin, Texas, and Eric Elliott, Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Sierra, Allison, Jack, Lauren, Megan and Colin Elliott; a brother, Deane (Phyllis) Elliott, Wapakoneta; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Neargarder, Mary Katterheinrich, Alfreida Ramga, Imogene Roser, Virginia (Jerry Schneider) Hardesty, Phyllis Ramga and Charles (Janice) Ramga. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dana Lynn, siblings and spouses, Helen Louise (Ray) Schaub, Pat Neargarder, Jim (Ginny) Elliott, Jack (Rita and Mary) Elliott and Bill (Verna) Elliott, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Annabelle (Kermit) Hoge, Don Ramga, infant John Edward Ramga, Addis Katterheinrich, Herbert Ramga, Alice (Roland) Truesdale, and Christine (Joe) Steinke, Norman Roser, Charles Hardesty, Bob Ramga and Carl (Juanita) Ramga. Joe was an electrician and owned and operated Elliott Electric, Wapakoneta. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the eagles, Aerie #691. A 1954 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Joe served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. He was active in sports throughout his life. While in high school, he participated in basketball, baseball, football and track. He also played slo-pitch softball until the age of 56. Joe coached CYO basketball and officiated high school basketball. He worked the dunking booth at the St. Joseph Festival for many years and also helped with the Squires and Boy Scouts. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan and supported them by attending their sporting events and activities. The family greatly appreciates the care and support of Dr. Joanne Jeter, James Cancer Center, Columbus; the nurses and staff from St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima; and Dr. Mathew Jose of Wapakoneta. The special care of the St. Rita's hospice to comfort his last days at home, was beyond our greatest expectations. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday and 9-9:45 a.m., Saturday at the the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave. (state Route 501), Wapakoneta.
