BEAVERCREEK — H. Everett Koogler, 99, of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Bluebird Retirement Community, London. He was born May 4, 1917, in Beavercreek, Ohio, the son of Earl E. and Ethel B. Greene Koogler. He was a lifelong resident and farmer of Beavercreek, and the last living member of the Beavercreek High School Class of 1935 where he played both basketball and baseball. He was a member of the London Church of Christ, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 32nd Infantry/Red Arrow Div/114th Combat Engineer Battalion, South Pacific, during World War II. He retired from Bendix/Sheffield in 1982, was a former realtor, and was a second generation Greene County auctioneer for over 75 years, with Koogler Auctions, which celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 2014. Everett took care of the love of his life, Winifred, for 18 years after she became ill. He loved to mow his yard, visit with friends, and watch Cincinnati Reds baseball. He was an honest and kind man who loved his family and friends, and enjoyed many close friendships with auction attendees over the years. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Wendell) Hurley, London, a son and daughter-in-law, Garry (Karen) Koogler, Spring Valley, a daughter-in-law, Ruby Koogler, Denver, CO, five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, 6 step-grandchildren, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Winifred (Smith) Koogler, on November 20, 2000, a son, Robert Koogler, a sister, Meriam Hawker, and by a brother, Wilbur Koogler. Everett will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am, Wednesday, October 19, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Wendell Hurley officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery, Beavercreek.
