Evelyn M. (Vachon) Perkins, 94 Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother FITCHBURG -- Evelyn M. (Vachon) Perkins, 94, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Valley Stream Nursing Home, after a long illness. Her husband, Roger Bernard Perkins died on May 9, 2006. She leaves one daughter, Catherine D. Perkins of Fitchburg; six grandchildren, Michael Cote, Samantha Dudac, Joshua Cote, Melissa Adams, Christopher Vautour, and Megan DeLeon; 17 great--grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. Evelyn was predeceased by a daughter, Jo-Ann Cote who died on January 5, 2015, and two sisters, Doris Green and Constance Lagrassa. She was born in Fitchburg, on December 14, 1921, a daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Casey) Vachon and lived in Lunenburg for many years before moving to Fitchburg. In her youth she worked for Totsey's Doll Clothes and R.H. White. In addition, she was a professional Ultra Suede sewer and was a seamstress working out of her home. Evelyn was a loving mother who enjoyed caring for her family. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, making picture puzzles and framing them and bingo. Evelyn loved sewing and could sew anything, including wedding dresses. She made many clothes for herself and her family. She had lived in Lunenburg for many years before moving to Fitchburg. PERKINS -- A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the North Cemetery, Holman Street, Lunenburg, MA. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462. The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Avenue, Lunenburg, MA has been entrusted with Evelyn's funeral arrangements.
