In memory of
Eunice (Catalano) Murphy passed with peace and grace on Friday January. 13, 2017, with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband William R. Murphy, and her brother Rosario Catalano. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Diane (Gary) Clark, Diane's son Johnny Clark, and her grandson Hunter Daniels. She is survived by her daughters Kathy (John) Stone of Colchester, Dorothy (Duane) Rowland of Cromwell, Joanne (John) Daniels of East Haddam, Theresa (Barry) Osalza of East Haddam, Christine Mathews of Norwich, and her sons Paul Murphy of Colchester, and Mark (Kate) Murphy of Lyme. Eunice is also survived by her sister Rita Murphy of Jackson Heights, NY. Eunice was also a loving Grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Eunice was born in 1929 in N.Y., N.Y. to the late Eunice and Nicholas Catalano. After a Catholic education she had a brief career as a fashion model. Eunice married Master Sgt. William Murphy in 1948, and proceeded to put all her energies into raising her children, and embarking on a long career of caring for the elderly. She was employed at Cobalt Lodge, and did private duty nursing. She was a lifelong member of the Colchester Women's VFW Post 6990, a Grange member, former member and President of the Woman's Democratic Club, a member of the Stroke Club, and a member of the Red Hats. Throughout her life Mom nurtured the people around her. She made enduring friendships, and cherished them. Dad was a retired Marine, and she lost him too soon. She unflinchingly finished raising her kids alone. She did this with determination, humor, and great love. She always made sure we carried on our Italian heritage, and embraced passing on her recipes to her children. Mom's kitchen was never closed. Gatherings of Family and friends were her greatest joy. While greatly saddened by the loss of Mom, we take solace that Dad and Diane will be reunited with her, and her them.
