BURLINGTON - Eugene Hobart "Cowboy" Wilder, Jr., 53, of Beaver Run Road, Burlington, WV, died Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. Born on July 18, 1963 at Easton, MD, he was a son of Eugene Hobart Wilder, Sr. of Preston, MD and Dorothy L. (Hobbs) Hollingsworth of Dover, DE. He is also survived by his stepmother, Joyce Wilder of Preston and his stepfather, William Hollingsworth of Dover. "Cowboy", as he was known to most, was employed as a truck driver with various trucking companies and loved the time he spent working on the King Cole Ranch in Texas. He and his wife, Janet operated the Cra-z "W"' Ranch on Beaver Run Road, which they loved and cared for. One of the fondest memories the family has is "Cowboy Weekend," a time that all of Eugene's closest friends would get together on the ranch and have a great time, eating and enjoying the fellowship together. They would do the annual inoculations and branding of the cattle, swap stories and jokes and enjoy the outdoors. He loved anything to do with horses, horse riding and hunting. His nature was to help other people in whatever way he could and he deeply loved his family. He also was a member of the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren. Surviving, in addition to his parents and stepparents is his wife of 16 years, Janet K. (Culp-Erickson) Wilder; his children, Brad Wilder and wife Angel of Strasburg, VA, Lori Wimer and husband Douglas of Seneca Rocks, WV, Barbara Jean Gurley and husband John of Osceola, IN and Eugene Christian Wilder of Greenwood, DE; six grandchildren, Breanna Wilder, Nicholas Matthews, Camden Gurley, Austin Butler, Randy Butler and Sadie Wimer and two great -grandchildren, Lillian and Nara Butler. Also surviving is a sister, Marilyn Bringhurst and husband Jim of Greenwood and a brother, Wade Copp of Woodstock, VA.
