Eugene G. Makowski
Eugene G. Makowski, 73 of Asbury, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. He was born in Rotthalmunster Germany on May 30, 1943 to the late Stanley and Catherine Makowski of Manville, NJ. Eugene was a resident of Asbury, NJ for the past 41 years. Eugene was a graduate of Manville High School in 1962 and graduate of Arizona State Technical School where he earned an associate degree in computer programming. He served his country Honorably in the United Stated Air Force during the Vietnam War and later joined the Army Reserves where he retired earning the rank of Sergeant First Class training reservist in the use of special weapons and munitions. He was a recipient of the Hunterdon County Vietnam Veterans Medal Award in 2003. Mr. Makowski worked for Oakite Products in Berkley Heights, NJ as a programmer, Fidelity Investments in Morristown, NJ as a Systems Analyst, and a Senior Program Systems Analyst at the County of Warren Administration in Belvidere, NJ where he retired after 18 years of service. Mr. Makowski was a very active member of the Stewartsville American Legion and Past Commander of the VFW Hunterdon Hills Post, 6059. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation Parish in Bloomsbury, NJ. He was also an active member of the Alpha Volunteer Fire Department. To know him was to love him, he had a way with words and a quick sense of humor. His loyalty and friendship will forever be valued by many dear family members and friends. He loved working with and repairing computers, gardening, music, hunting, fishing, and traveling abroad. Eugene is survived by his loving wife Laura Makowski, brother Chester Makowski and his wife Nialetta Makowski of Manville, NJ, his daughter Susan Makowski of Annandale, NJ. and his former wife, Nancy Makowski of Phillipsburg, NJ. He also leaves behind his loving niece Jennifer Makowski, nephews Stephen and wife Ashley Makowski, Jared Makowski and James Makowski who will all miss him very much. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Gianina Raub and her husband, Chuck, a niece Jessica and nephew Gary Raub. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Church of the Annunciation, 80 Main St.,Bloomsbury beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bloomsbury Fire Department, 91 Brunswick Ave., Bloomsbury, N.J. 08804.
