Eugene Alvin Garwood February 6, 2017 On February 6, 2017 Eugene Alvin Garwood of North Fort Myers, passed away peacefully. He was 88. Eugene was born in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Carl and Myrtle (nee Johnson) Garwood. He joined the army and served his country for 4 years, after his honorable discharge he attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Horticulture. Eugene was a co-owner of Garwood Orchard and enjoyed working on the land. He was a Life Member of the American Legion. Eugene attended the Messiah Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, FL. He is reunited with his beloved wife of over 50 years, the late Melva J. Clayton. He is survived by his son Grant A. Garwood (Becky), his grandsons Nick and Adam, and 3 great-grandchildren, his siblings Carl Garwood, Carol Schroder, and Judy Fecel. Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother Jim Garwood and son Eric A. Garwood. Family and friends will honor Eugene's life at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL, 33909, where a service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2 PM.
