Ethel "JK" Johnson
Ethel "JK" Johnson, 76 of Mayview, Missouri died on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at North Care Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Born Sunday, February 4, 1940 in Mayview, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Edward Johnson and the late Lutie Turner Johnson. Ethel lived all of her life in Mayview. She was a member of Zion A.M.E. Church in Mayview. She served on the City Council and also served as Mayor Pro-Tem. She served on the Women's Missionary Board of the Church. She was a general machinist for Allied Signal and was a member of the Machinist Union Local 778. She retired in 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Amanda (Claude) Harris of Kansas City, MO and Sadie Bass of Higginsville; three brothers, Edward (Denna) Johnson of St. Louis, MO, Ernest (Susan) Johnson of Higginsville, MO and Rickey (Beverly) Johnson of Mayview; seven sisters, Frances (Henry) Lee of Richmond, MO, Janice Johnson of Casa Grande, AZ, Sadie (Virgil) Miller of Mayview, Ernestine Lewis of Mayview, Bernadine Johnson of Mayview, Opal Johnson of Mayview, and Rhonda Johnson of Mayview; four grandchildren, Damian Harris, Darian Harris, Mariah Bass and Londen Bass. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wesley Johnson and one sister, Esther Madeline Johnson. A funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday at Zion United Church of Christ with the Pastor BarBara Harper officiating, Dustin Gilmore, pianist and Diana Allen, vocalist. Interment will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Mayview. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Zion United Church of Christ, 105 N. Mary St., Mayview, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be sent to North Kansas City Hospice House. Casket bearers are Thomas Miller, Corey Johnson, Eric Johnson, Aiden Johnson, Joey Parra, Troy Lefman, Fred Collins and Tony Lewis, Jr. Honorary bearers are Edward Johnson, Ernest Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Damian Harris, Darian Harris and Londen Bass.
