Ernest J. "Ernie" Moreau
EAST KINGSTON - Ernest "Ernie" J. Moreau, 93, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Partridge House in Hampton, N.H. He was born February 10, 1923, in Methuen, Mass., son of the late John and Amelia (Charest) Moreau and his step mother who helped raise him from a young age, Jennie Moreau. Ernie grew up in Methuen, Mass., and attended schools there. On June 27, 1942, he married Eleanor "Ellie" Bean. Ernie was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a talented carpenter and worked many years locally for various companies including Wexler Construction Company. Ernie and Ellie were longtime residents of East Kingston and Ernie served two terms as selectman. They also lived for 26 years in Florida, the majority of which were spent in Ft. Pierce. Ernie was an avid candlepin and ten pin bowler. In his younger adult years because of his love of children and sports, he also helped create and coach an informal baseball league which included kids from several local area towns. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Eleanor Moreau, his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jack Herrick of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., his son and daughter-in-law, John "Jack" and Lucille Moreau of East Kingston, N.H., four grandchildren, Wendy Moreau of Portsmouth, N.H., John Moreau Jr., and his wife, Norma and their family of Exeter, N.H., Amy More and her husband, Ed of Gulfport, Fla., and Robert Herrick of Palmetto, Fla. SERVICES: There are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled at this time. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston, N.H.
