Mr. Ernest William "Bill" Cunningham
Mr. Ernest William "Bill" Cunningham, 73, of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Robert Rue will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by members of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana. He was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Louisiana, the son of Ernest Edward Cunningham and Eva Irene Dempsey Cunningham. He married Glenda Lee Pargeon Sept. 27, 1991, in Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Glenda of the home, one son; Eric Alexander (Leslea) of Fulton, three daughters; Lisa Dempsey of Louisiana, Shellie Ligon (Mike) of Elsberry and Bobbie Francis (Phillip) of Louisiana, nine granddaughters; Philesha Wells, Johnna Wofford, Sammie Alexander, Libby Bedrosian, Emily Dempsey, Grace Dempsey, Amber Cunningham, Chloe Cunningham and Ellie Alexander, 11 grandsons; Brenden Alexander, Caleb Perez, Braden Perez, Zack Alexander, Jaxton Calvin, Tyler Francis, P. J. Francis, Michael Francis, Kade Ligon, Lloyd Cunningham and Michael Ligon and seven great grandchildren; Katie Wofford, Bella Wofford, Dirk Wofford, Mikey Dubach, Kasen Francis, Aleica Crider and Gerrall Wells. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eva Cunningham, two sons; Billy Cunningham in 2016 and Johnny Alexander in 1989, twin great-grandsons; John and James Wofford and two brothers, Hank Cunningham and Henry Cunningham. He had been employed as a lab technician with MEMC in St. Peters, until his retirement in 1998. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana and was a member of the Apple Core Honor Guard since 1987. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #791. He was an avid Cardinals fan and loved to watch them play baseball. He was a very kind and generous person who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Most of all he was a family man who loved his family and loved to spend time with them. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren; Brenden Alexander, Caleb Perez, Braden Perez, Zack Alexander, Jaxton Calvin, Tyler Francis, PJ Francis, Michael Francis, Michael Ligon, Kade Ligon, and Lloyd Cunningham.
