Erica A. Hower, 39, of Oakmont, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Aug. 22, 1977, in Natrona Heights, daughter of Michael and Noreen (Marika) Rusiewicz, of Natrona Heights; wife of Dr. John T. Hower, of Oakmont. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Julian and Stella Marika; and paternal grandparents, Val L. "Shiek" and Catherine Rusiewicz. She was a 1995 graduate of Highlands High School, and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1999, with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education; at Gannon University, she received a Master's in Elementary Education in 2001. Erica taught elementary education for eight years at Highlands School District at Fairmont Elementary. She was a proud Girl Scout leader of Troop No. 58407, and a member of the Riverside Women's Association of Oakmont. She volunteered for educational organizations for the Riverview School District and the community of Oakmont. She enjoyed vacations with family and friends at the beach, working in her yard, making her home a home, and spending time with family and friends. Erica lived her life dedicated to Ben, Molly and Ryan. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Dr. John T. Hower, of Oakmont; three children, Benjamin, Molly and Ryan Hower, of Oakmont; her parents, Michael and Noreen (Marika) Rusiewicz, of Natrona Heights; and sister, Jennifer (Tim) Christy, of Natrona Heights. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 5th Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner-Supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass in St Joseph's R.C. Church at the St. Ladislaus worship site, Natrona. Burial will take place in Verona-Oakmont Cemetery Mausoleum, Oakmont.
