Emmett Richard Passow Emmett Richard Passow peacefully passed away April 10, 2017 at the Eisenhower Medical Center. He was born October 5, 1924 in Los Angeles, California to Carl Passow and Anna Johnson. He lived in Downey and surrounding towns his working years. Emmett always loved the desert, residing in Indian Wells and Palm Desert the last 40 years. Out of high school World War II was raging and he faithfully served his country in the Navy repairing ships as an underwater welder in Hawaii, a skill he was very good at. Returning home after the war he contracted Polio and was challenged with its effects the rest of his life, forcing him to change direction in his choice of work. After receiving his business degree from Woodbury University in Burbank he sold galvanizing to steel companies throughout the west, went into partnership in several companies and earning his broker license, enjoying the challenge real estate offered. Emmett was married twice to two beautiful women; Esther Finke and Esther Buske. Emmett touch the lives of many with his genuine interest in others. He is survived by his sister Elaine Prukop of Indian Wells, his two children; daughter Dwyla Perriton of Cheyenne, Wyoming and son Tom Passow of Palm Desert, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as his loving companion of the last nine years, Maureen Meinhardt. Funeral will be held Wednesday April 19th, 10:30AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 72960 Parkview Drive in Palm Desert. Interment services will be the following day at Rose Hills Memorial Park at 1:00PM in Whittier California. FitzHenry-Wiefels Palm Desert has been entrusted with arrangements.
