Emily Jean Badertscher
DELAWARE — Emily Jean Badertscher, 78, of Delaware, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born Feb. 19, 1939 in Columbus to Robert and Ruth Estep. Emily was raised in Urbana and received a Bachelor's degree from Capital University in 1960. She was a beloved member of the community and lived a rich life of faith, service, and charity. Her volunteer work included the Red Cross, 4-H, the Cancer Society, and Radnor Schools. She was a devoted member of the Asbury United Methodist Church congregation and choir having joined in 1996. Previously she had attended the United Church of Christ from 1976-1996. Emily worked for 20 years at the Methodist Theological School before retiring in 2004. She is survived by one daughter, Laurie Miller and spouse, Bruce; one son, Ned Badertscher and spouse, Molly; five grandchildren, Heath, Jordin, Ethan, Tyler, and Jack; and one great-grandchild, Berlyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joseph Estep and his spouse, Barbara. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home where the funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Philip Wilden officiating.
