JACKSONVILLE, Ark. - Elsa Fern Johnson, 93, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, died Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Johnson, daughter of Claudia Leroy and Annie Laverne (Fulk) Holland, was born March 18, 1924, in Pine, Missouri. She had owned and operated a sawmill and lumber yard. Mrs. Johnson loved her family and she enjoyed making quilts for all of her grandchildren. She also liked gardening and loved watching it grow. Mrs. Johnson was of the Pentecostal faith. On June 26, 1943, she was married to Elmer Loyd Johnson in Doniphan, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2000. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Ann Steele; three sisters, Eula Savage, Wilma Faye Mason and Melvie Williams; and one brother, Marvin Holland. Surviving are two children, Linda Williams of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Roger (Glenda) Johnson of Annapolis, Missouri; two sisters, Verna Tucker of Ridgecrest, California, and Dorotha Upshaw of Aurora, Illinois; and eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother J.W. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Pine Cemetery.
