Elmer R. Huntsman
Long time Durango resident Elmer R. Huntsman went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, 2016 at his home in Aztec, NM. He was 92 years old. Elmer was born Aug 30, 1924 to Lloyd and Mae Huntsman in Ignacio, CO. Elmer attended Oxford school through the 9th grade and attended Durango High School. Elmer started his working career at the Hollywood Creamery where he met his future bride Mary Bustos, they were married Oct 30, 1948. Elmer worked for the Durango Vanadium until it closed. He then worked for El Paso Natural Gas and remained in the gas and oil field until he retired from Williams Field. After his wife died he relocated to Aztec, NM. Elmer belonged to Weight Watchers for several years where he met several life time friends. Elmer is remembered most of all for his love to socialize and meet people which became friends. He loved visiting and spending time with family. Survived by two sons Bruce Hamer (Sharon) of Durango, CO, Carrol Don Huntsman of Aztec, NM. Daughters Verna Huntsman of Aztec, NM & Vivian Neil (Randy) of Ignacio, CO, Sisters Mary Gwen of Farmington, NM. Virginia (Tony) Herrera of Marvel, CO, Brother Carl Huntsman of Craig, CO, Elmer had 8 grand children, 18 great grand children & four great-great grand children & numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Mary, sons Dan & Freddie Huntsman & grand daughter Amy. Brothers Ernest West, Arthur, Charles, Jack & Melvin (Bill) Huntsman. Sister Alice West-Westmier, parents Lloyd & Mae Huntsman. Memorial service are pending at a later date.
