Elizebeth Joyce McCaughan Elizebeth "Liz" J. McCaughan, 76, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2016. She was born in Seattle, WA, February 8, 1940. She graduated from Highline High School. She worked at Pacific Junior High School in Des Moines, where she was known as the charismatic lunch lady. She also worked at Alaska Airlines and Furnery's Nursery. Liz was a flawless mother and homemaker, excellent seamstress, exceptional cake decorator and baker, and found her most joy in gardening. She donated her time at the Des Moines Pregnancy Aid, along with many other charitable organizations throughout her lifetime. She was an extremely strong women with a very kind heart. Many learned an abundance of life lessons from her. She was known for always making visitors welcome with a fresh cup of coffee and her natural ability to make you feel better after being in her presence. Her memory will always be carried in our hearts. She is preceded by her parents; Lester W. Stahl and Barbara J. Stahl. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gerald B. McCaughan; her son, James B. McCaughan; her daughters, Colleen E. McCaughan, Aileen M. Evans, Mary E. Nesbitt; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; her brothers, Charles E. Stahl, & George Stahl. There will be no memorial service. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life in the Spring, alongside the Cedar River in Maple Valley. In lieu of flowers, Liz's family ask that you donate to PICC; Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent, WA.
