Elizabeth Jean Lee Perkins age 85, Indianapolis, passed on October 6, 2016. She was the eighth of nine children born to the late Haywood and Gertrude Kilcrease Lee, Jr. in Nashville, TN. Elizabeth met Jack C. Perkins, who was stationed at Camp Atterbury (Indiana) and they were married. In 1965 Rev. Perkins was called to pastor Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, and Mrs. Perkins remained a faithful member until her death. Elizabeth and her husband organized the Martin Luther King Academy for Children. After the MLK Academy, she became the executive director of the Marion County Foster Grand Parent Association. She was also very active with the National Council of Negro Women. Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jack C. Perkins; daughter Judy Perkins-Obeime. She is survived by sons, Jack Perkins, Jerry Perkins (Michelle) and Jeffery Perkins; daughter, Pamela Perkins; sister, Rebecca Farmer; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; One brother-in-law, Rev. George Love; and two sisters-in-law, Michele Lee, and Vivian Lee. Funeral Service will be October 22nd at 12 Noon in Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 2325 Hovey Street, 46218; with calling from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on October 21 and 10 a.m. until time of service on October 22nd. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
