ELIZABETH JEAN MCKENNY Jean McKenny, as she was fondly known, transitioned peacefully into her next life on October 3, 2016 at the age of 93. Jean was an inspiration to those who knew her and a wonderful and loving friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean was born on October 1, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Jean (McLean) Dorrance, and her mother was an immigrant from Troon, Scotland. Over her years, Jean resided in several California communities including the San Fernando Valley, Concord and Paradise, until recently relocating to Southern California to be near family in her sunset years, where she finally succumbed to complications from a stroke. Jean is survived by her son, William Craig Schaaf and his wife Sharon Schaaf, his children and Jean's granddaughters Tracy (Schaaf) Neilssien and Lisa (Schaaf) Bickel, her grandchildren on her daughter's side, Maria (DeFalco) Tedford and Anthony DeFalco, and three great-grandchildren. Jean was blessed with an extended family upon her marriage to George McKenny, to include a stepson, Vernon McKenny and his wife Faye, their daughter Heather (McKenny) and husband Ken Kreger, their son Mark McKenny and his wife Jill, and four great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her daughter Pamela (Schaaf) DeFalco and husbands, William Briel Schaaf and George McKenny. Jean's greatest friends and family know that she left this world a better place than how she found it and she will forever be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Private services will be held in Southern California. To honor Jean's memory, the family suggests sharing a kind gesture, or donating to a favorite charity.
