Elizabeth May Knighton, 86, of Williamsport, passed at UPMC, Williamsport Hospital on February 10. She was born on May 3, 1930 in Baltimore and was the daughter of Frank and Della [Thompson] Palmer. Liz, as she was called, graduated from Bartram High School and Germantown Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated nurse, devoted wife, loyal sister, loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family above all else and selflessly cared for those she loved. Liz was a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and a hospice volunteer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Knighton, second husband, Lester Frederick, and her son, David Knighton. She is survived by her children William Kenneth Knighton (Williamsport), Jeffrey Scott Knighton and wife Carol (Pottstown), Alan Frederick and wife Chong (Norristown), Samuel Davis Frederick (Norristown), and Donna [Knighton] Gelegonya and husband Ronald (Milford, NJ); two sisters, Marie Shindle (Westover, MD) and Barbara McDonald (Shepherdstown, WV); thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Valley Forge Church of Christ on Friday, February 17 from 7-9 pm (590 West Valley Forge Rd., King of Prussia, PA). A graveside service will be held at a later date at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s name can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Donation Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086.
