Elizabeth Heneghan
Elizabeth "Betty" (Breen) Heneghan, 87, of South Windsor, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Vernon Manor, surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was born on May 23, 1929 in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Brennan) Breen. She grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1948. A resident of South Windsor since 1982, Elizabeth was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church. She worked as a claims specialist for The Travelers for over 25 years, before retiring in 1991. She was a very devout and religious woman who always made sure she had a smile and a helping hand for all her family and friends. Among swimming and spending time with her family she loved to volunteer and take walks in nature. Her family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding "Angels" of care at Vernon Manor. She leaves her children, Jean Walden and Bernard Loubier of New London, James Heneghan and his wife Colleen of South Windsor and John Heneghan and his wife Deborah of Bolton; her brothers, Joseph Breen and his wife Lorraine of Manchester and Robert Breen of Knoxville, TN; 8 grandchildren, Owen Heneghan, Caitlin Clyburn and her husband Matt, Colin Heneghan, Erin Heneghan, Christopher Heneghan and his wife Aura, Chelsea Heneghan, Michael Walden and Patrick Walden; and her sisters-in-law, Joan Breen and Pauline Breen both of Manchester, Ruth Heneghan of Georgetown, SC and Mary Ellen Kissane of Hartford. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis Breen and James Breen and her sister, Marjorie Evans. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, October 22, 2016, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Manchester. Her family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
