BERLIN - Elizabeth "Betty" (Sargis) Baldyga, 83, of Berlin, widow of Roman J. Baldyga, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at the Jerome Home in New Britain. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Saul and Margaret (Narsis) Sargis, Betty was a class of 1951 New Britain High School graduate. And moved to Berlin in 1963. Upon graduation, Betty worked at several area car dealerships as an office manager. She was then employed by the State of Connecticut as an administrative secretary for the Secretary of the State for over 10 years, retiring in 1992. She later worked part time at Goss & Deleeuw in Berlin. During the 70's and 80's, Betty was involved in the Democratic Town Committee in Berlin. Surviving is her daughter, Holly Sorensen and her husband, James of Berlin; a brother, Saul Sargis, Jr., and his longtime companion, Sally Clark, of Salisbury; a sister, Carole Lee Sargis, of East Berlin; two grandsons, Deven and Tyler Sorensen, both of Berlin; several nieces, nephews; and cousins. Betty was predeceased by her brother, Arnold Sargis; as well as his wife, Carol Sargis. Per Betty's wishes, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berlin VNA, 240 Kensington Road, Berlin, CT 06037 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
