In memory of
Eleanor Theodora Shattuck
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Ellie's passing. Ellie was born on May 7, 1970 in Yuba City, CA. She attended local schools and graduated from Yuba City Union High School in 1988 before attending Questa College in San Luis Obispo. She moved to Tahoe City and worked as a sales manager for Tahoe Tree Company before finding the love of her life, David Shattuck. They were married on August 20, 2005. Ellie and Dave moved to Gardnerville, Nevada where they founded and operated Shattuck and Sons Landscaping. They thereafter moved to Sacramento where Ellie resided till her death on February 10, 2017. Ellie brought into this world her most precious and treasured gift, son, William Thomas Shattuck on June 17, 2006. Having been born and raised in rural Sutter County, Ellie became a gifted gardener and loved the out of doors. She and Dave would regularly plant and nurture a vegetable garden large enough to feed five families. She loved giving fresh vegetables to friends and neighbors. No one ever visited with Ellie in the summer without getting a tour of her garden and a basket of fresh vegetables and a dozen of her chickens' newly laid eggs. The same was true of her yard which was adorned with trees, shrubs and flowers. She knew by sight the name of any plant. Ellie, Dave and William were regulars each year at our little ranch at Timbuctoo every Memorial Day and Labor Day weeks. When not in the garden or yard in the spring, summer and fall, Ellie and Dave would follow NASCAR. "Junior" was her NASCAR pick to win. Camo was her favorite color. Ellie had a camouflage patterned garment for every occasion. While most of her women friends would shop for clothes at Macys, Ellie would shop at Cabela's or Sportsman's Warehouse. Anyone who knew her would acknowledge that Ellie had strong opinions and spoke her mind. A shrinking violet, she was not. Ellie will be missed by her family and friends. For those of us who loved her, we are left with a hole in our souls. Ellie is survived by her husband David and son William, her parents Tom and Marge Hill of Live Oak, her brother Justin (Sara) and their children Logan and Macy of Live Oak. She also leaves behind Alan and Joan Shattuck, Dave's parents of Rocklin and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held in Ellie's honor. Contributions in Ellie's memory may be made in to The Bradshaw Christian School, 8324 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA 95829 (Attn.: Kristen Hage) or to your favorite charity.
