Eleanor M. Kuha
Eleanor M. Kuha, 88, of Dickson City, died Wednesday at Mid Valley Manor, Sturges. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kuha. He died March 1, 2010. Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Walter A. and Julia S. Pachucki Zalewski. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, and she was a former member of its Christian Mothers Society. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School, Dickson City High School class of 1945, and she received her B.S. degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949. Later, she earned a master's degree in education from Marywood University in 1970. She retired from the Mid Valley School District after 25 years of teaching and she was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed preparing for family holidays, socializing with family and friends, quilting, crocheting and playing cards. Her faith was a great source of strength for her. She will be deeply missed. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Moses Taylor, 3 west, Commonwealth Home Health, which allowed her to live independently and the staff of the Mid Valley Health Care Center. Also surviving are five children, Jan Kuha and wife, Wanda, Florida; Marilyn Jackson and husband, John, Avoca; Walter Kuha and wife, Janet, Temple, Texas; Donna Burke and husband, Robert, Old Saybrook, Conn.; and Gerard Kuha and wife, Kim, Hollisterville; former daughter-in-law, Theresa Kuha; eight grandchildren, Jesse Ricketts and husband, Jeff; Jan Kuha, Kate Fletcher and husband, Tim; Aaron and Adam Kuha, Kerry and Daniel Burke and Alexander Kuha; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Bachinski, Northfield, Mass.; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter J. Zalewski. The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning. Interment will take place at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
