Born in Waukegan, Illinois on October 9, 1918, Eleanor passed away on January 2, 2017 (98 years old). She passed peacefully with loved ones surrounding her. Having spent a nice family Christmas, Eleanor was just ready to meet her Lord. Spending almost all of her life in the Waukegan area, she was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, a founding member of the Amvets Auxiliary and member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary among others. She loved reading and therefore spent many years as Catalog Supervisor at the Waukegan Public Library. She was also an avid and EXCELLENT Cribbage player. Ask anyone who tried to beat her. She loved to spend time with her family and was ready to join her beloved husband Rodney with whom she enjoyed camping and traveling the country until his death in 1999. Eleanor is survived by two sons: Jim (Lorraine Maida), Jerry (Judi), Grandsons Chris and Ryan and three Great Grandchildren Jacob, Charlie and Antonia/"Annie" (the first girl in three generations) She will be sadly missed but her life was full of Love, Laughter, Family and Friends. Those are gifts we will always remember. Thanks Mom! A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 12 noon at St John's United Church of Christ which is located at 1520 North McAree Road in Waukegan, Illinois. A luncheon will be held following the service. Any donations may be made to the church in Eleanor's name and honor.
