Eddie was born in Burlington, VT, to Anthony and Bertha (Shanks) Cassano on August 15, 1928. After High School, where he played trumpet in the band, he served a year in the Navy. He also participated in the Ashby Boy Scouts, Troop 27, and the American Legion. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Johnny Appleseed Center, where visitors were always greeted with a smile, and a story - or two! Ed and his much loved wife Char had a summer cottage for over 50 years in Ocean Point, Boothbay, ME; they also spent time in Florida during the winter. They enjoyed traveling, especially to England. Dixieland jazz was another favorite of Ed's, and live performances were always attended with Ed hoping to be able to play the spoons with the band, which happened most of the time.
