Aug. 3, 1924 - Jan. 5, 2017 Edwin Roy Baker, 92 of Stockton passed away peace-fully at home on January 5, 2017. Ed was born to Harry and Dorothea Baker on August 3, 1924 and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. After high school, he was drafted into the Navy as a Quartermaster in 1943, serving aboard the cruiser, USS Minneapolis (CA-36), and participated in various Pacific Theatre conflicts in World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946, Ed went back to school, and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1953. Shortly thereafter, he moved to California to be with family, and began work at the accounting firm of O.B. Kleinfeld & Co. in Stockton. After attaining his C.P.A, Ed became a partner in the firm, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Ed was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers play. As a season ticket holder, he rarely missed attending their home games. Ed is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Dorothea, brothers Joe, John and Dick, and sisters Esther (Miller), Eleanor (Phillippee), Edna (Shippey), Cally (Christensen) and Ruth (Moninger). Ed is survived by his lifetime companion of 61 years, Joseph A. Costa, along with his sister Betty (Watson) and a large family of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, at 12 pm on Monday, January 16, 2017 with doors opening at 11 am for visitation. Ed will be laid to rest at Tracy Mausoleum, 8842 W. Schulte Road, Tracy. A reception will follow the > services. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edwin R.
