Zilk, Edward 93 Dec. 26, 1923 Feb. 01, 2017 Edward Zilk of Portland, passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2017. Eldest son of John and Christine Zilk, Ed is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris, son, Jeffrey (Barbara) Zilk, grandchildren, Andrew Zilk and Katie May Zilk, grandpuppy, Maggie, his surviving sisters, Carolyn (Don) Soden, Helen Larson and Ruth Frost, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ed joined the Marines during WWII serving in the South Pacific. He worked in purchasing most of his career, working for Marshall Wells and later Tektronix, retiring in 1990. Ed loved his faith and was very active in his church. He loved music and sang in the choir. He also loved fine woodworking and was a master at his craft, making beautiful items for family and friends. Ed loved his family and time spent with them. He adored his grandchildren who brought pride and joy to his heart and was very active in their daily lives. He was always quick to laugh and his hugs were unforgettable. He was a kind, gentle, caring man who was always generous with his time. Following his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Providence Hospice, Alzheimer's / Dementia Research or Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon in Ed's name would be appreciated.
