Edward Russell Sussex Charlotte, MI Edward Russell Sussex, age 61, a man much loved by his family, friends and co-workers passed away Monday, February 13, 2017. Ed was a Lansing native, graduated from Allegan High School, and lived and worked in Sturgis, and Kalamazoo, before moving to Charlotte in 2000. Ed had a lot of life challenges to bear, but always was an example of "turn the other cheek." He always greeted people with kindness, and a smile, and if you asked him how he was, the answer was "Real Good!" A little song, or motor buzz was always on Ed's lips from the time he woke up in the morning until bed. His family always knew when he was approaching because a happy melody always accompanied him. Ed's joy was to have opportunities to play Santa at events. His own nieces and nephews were always "Ooh, Uncle Ed is here" when he came in. Ed loved his community, all things patriotic, music, Lansing Lugnuts, Eaton Area Senior Center, and his job at the Eaton County Sherriff's Office. He loved to attend events, stand proudly for the flag, and participate when and where he could. In the last few years his "family" at the Eaton County Sherriff's Office became a life opportunity for him to beam with pride at a job he loved, and be loved in return. Ed was preceded in death by his loving parents, Fred and Barbara Sussex, and other loving grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Grescowle, Susan Milligan, and Sandra Miles (Don); nieces and nephews Amy and Tony Lask, David and Stephanie Milligan, Lisa and Bill Hambly, Heather Milligan, John Miles, and Robin and Reece Albright; many much-loved grand nieces and nephews, along with one great grand-niece. Ed is also survived by a wonderful extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11 AM at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Wales officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eaton Area Senior Center. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Edward on his tribute page at www.PrayFuneral.com . The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Ed would like to leave you a simple life legacy to find joy in each day, no matter your struggles, and spread kindness and love where you can.
