Edward Lee Gooding, 69, of Paloma, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at his home. He was born July 29, 1947, in Quincy, a son of Melvin and Opal Cleseen Gooding. Ed married Rhonda Conover on Sept. 17, 2016; she survives. Ed graduated from Central High School in 1967. Ed was a mentor for many youths; he took the time to be with them to teach them hunting and fishing skills that he enjoyed so much. He had worked at Harris and was a machinist at Hollister-Whitney until his retirement in 2013. In addition to his wife, Rhonda, he is survived by his mother, Opal Gooding; one daughter, Amanda (David) Norvell; three stepdaughters, Wendy (Kevin) Harris, Stephanie Oberling and Teri Oberling; grandchildren, Pierce and Sydney Norvell, Hannah Lair, Ayden and Charleigh Oberling, Laaken Elfritz, and Alex, Andrew and Emily Harris; one sister, Janet (Larry) Wilkey; two brothers, Virgil (Carolyn) Gooding and Milton (Georgia) Gooding; sisters-in-law, Teresa Conover, Tami Darnell, Becky (Gene) Walton and Mary Tennis; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, and brother, Kim Gooding. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy, with the Rev. Sheri Renner conducting.
