Edward J. Cunliffe Sr. July 4, 1941 - March 31, 2017 Edward John Cunliffe, Sr. 75 of Marcola Oregon was graced with a quick passing on March 31st 2017 after a 2 year valiant fight with multiple health conditions. He was born on July 4th, 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was the eldest of 5 children. Ed was a character from birth and right up to the end he was doing what he did best his gift of talk, making others laugh with his unique stories and off the wall humorous remarks. His life was as large as his personality. His first 18 years were in Elizabeth where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara. He married Barbara and joined the Navy both at 18, thus embarking on a life with adventures. Together they had 4 children. Ed's Navy career began with tours overseas and the entire eastern seaboard. Being an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed every state's bounty and beauty. His dream was to move to Oregon, and in 1969 he finally received his orders. He raised his family in Eugene, lived for the outdoors and retired from the Navy after a 20 year career with honors. He then went back to college for a year and started his second successful career as a Sales Rep. Ed was in his element with his outgoing personality and enjoyed 21 years with Jensen Distribution before retiring in 2003. He yearned for his own piece of the "Waltons" for himself and family, buying his acreage in 1979 and moving to his beloved home on "Howard Hill". Ed fulfilled his vision of paradise over the years creating a beautiful trout pond, parklike grounds multiple gardens and raising a variety of farm animals. He absolutely loved the family and friend gatherings that always took place there. Ed will be buried with his devoted, faithful Lab, Max who preceded him by 3 months and was constantly by his side these last 2 years. Ed is survived by his wife Barbara Ann; children: Cindy Crump of Springfield, OR, Edward Cunliffe Jr. of Yacolt, WA, Lisa Gunn of San Ramon, CA, and Stephen Cunliffe of Marcola, OR. Physically gone from us, although we are apart, your spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts". We will always love you. A funeral mass followed by a military interment with honors will be held at St Mary Catholic Church, 1062 Charnelton St., Eugene, OR on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 at 12:15 pm.
