Edna C. Martone
Edna Collette Martone passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2017, surrounded by her family at home in Anchorage, Alaska. Edna was born on Jan. 17, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Otto William and Eleanor Gertrude (Van Twisk) Lundquist. She graduated from Bishop MacDonald Memorial High and attended Hunter College. She worked for New York Telephone when she met Frank. Edna and Frank married in 1955 and together they began their lifelong adventure, eventually settling in Anchorage in 1958. Edna's accounting skills were valued asset in the family business, AT Publishing. Edna loved Alaska and was active with the PTA, Anchorage Wildflower and Garden Club, Cook Inlet Beekeepers Association and Catholic Daughters (Regent 95-97). What was most important to Edna was her family and her faith. She lovingly raised eight children. Her active involvement in church connected her to her faith and gave her long and cherished friendships. Edna's affable nature lead her to many conversations about family, faith, sewing, quilting, beekeeping, gardening, baking, photography and travel. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Martone; her sister, Terry Fay of California; her children, Paul (Theresa), Joe (Rose) Marie McConkey, Bill (Rachel), Andy, Jean (Al), Vincent (Karen) and Greg (Lollie); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her brothers, James, Peter and Paul Lundquist; and her sisters, Sister Joan Lundquist, Elizabeth Dahlburg, Elaine Saunders, Adriane and Bernadette Lundquist, predeceased her. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at 3 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish: 3900 Wisconsin St., Anchorage, AK 99517. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 2:30 p.m.
