In memory of
Edna T. Hager
Mrs. Hager, 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, October 15th, at Carolinas Medical Center. Edna was born on February 1, 1927 to the late Essie Lou Tarpley and Thomas Ira Tarpley. She was born in Mount Holly, North Carolina and lived the majority of her adult life in the Coulwood area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Edna graduated from Mount Holly High School and worked with Southern Bell for twelve years prior to being a full-time homemaker and mother. Edna was pre-deceased by her loving husband, John, after 60 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Lou Ann Russell and husband, Ricky; Johnna Denton and fiancee, Mike; and five grandchildren, Melissa Russell; Bryan Russell; Megan Russell; Taylor Moore and her husband, Adam; Lauren Denton and one great grandchild, Emmalyn. Edna was a dedicated wife, caring mother and a wonderful "Gagi". She loved her family with all her heart and spent her life showing them how much they meant to her. She ended every conversation and phone call by telling them "I love you good". She so much enjoyed being outside, visiting with neighbors on her swing and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. There are too many special memories to mention but a few are her making sugar cookies every Christmas with first her children and then later with her grandchildren and great granddaughter; the wonderful family Thanksgiving feasts, calling the family on their birthdays singing "happy birthday" and making her special green beans that her family enjoyed so much. Edna is a member of Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19th, at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Her minister, T.J. Thompson, will officiate. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to T.J. for his many visits and his support over the years. Memorial contributions may be made to Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mount Holly Huntersville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28216.
