Edna H. Brannigan
PHILADELPHIA — Edna H. Brannigan, 95, of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017. Mrs. Brannigan, better known to her beloved family as Ci-Ci (pronounced "Cheech"), was born in Wilkes-Barre on July 10, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Janoski) Voegele. Ci-Ci married her high school sweetheart, Thomas (Tom or "Pa") Brannigan, on June 20, 1942. Ci-Ci and Pa both attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. After Ci-Ci and her beloved husband graduated from high school, they traveled by bus from Wilkes-Barre to Philadelphia during the Great Depression so that Tom could find work. Tom found a job in Philadelphia working in the automobile parts and supply industry. It was then that Ci-Ci and Pa established their roots in Northeast Philadelphia for what would become a lifetime of memories and 72 wonderful years of marriage. Ci-Ci was a homemaker and a devoted member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Philadelphia. In her spare time, she loved to shop for jewelry and shoes at Strawbridge & Clothier and Wanamaker's department stores. She also got her hair done every Friday. Ci-Ci is preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom. She is survived by her granddaughter, Kristine Brenner (Brannigan), and her granddaughter's husband, Jeffrey; and two great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Annabelle. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ci-Ci will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, in the chapel at St. Mary Cemetery, 1594 S. Main St., Hanover Township, followed by interment in the cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the chapel. Arrangements are by Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township. Donations may be made in Ci-Ci's memory to Susan G. Komen, as Ci-Ci was a breast cancer survivor.
