LEGETTE A SUNRISE CELEBRATION of the Life of Mrs. Edith Porter Legette will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 7:00am, in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Reverend Al Letson, officiating. Mrs. Edith Porter Legette, a well-known owner of Legette's Motel, passed away peacefully April 11, 2017, in Alachua County. She was a native of Abbeville, AL, where she received her early education, graduating from Henry County Training School- Class of 1945 and furthered her learning by earning her Cosmetology Certification at Nickerson's School of Beauty Culture in 1946. Mrs. Legette was a longtime member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, Pastor H. B. Charles, Teacher, until relocating to Gainesville, FL. She was predeceased by her parents Joe and Dolly Porter; husband, Calvin Legette and son-in-law, Curtis W. Paris, Jr.; Survivors include her daughter, Ms. Jacquelyn Legette Paris; grandson, Calvin Paris (Annette); great-granddaughter, Mia Paris; bonus granddaughter, Antwinette Battle; sister, Mrs. Julia Alexander; brother, John Porter (Jewell); a number of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Legette will rest in the mortuary for visitation Tuesday from 5 PM until 7 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM).
