Edith Rubin Goldman
Edith Rubin Goldman, 101, passed away quiet ly in her sleep on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Born a Valentine's baby to Louis and Anna Rubin of Newark, New Jersey on February 14, 1916, she was raised and trained, first, as a dealer in fine fabrics and later in women's wear in New York's fashion district. Married to Joseph Goldman, a pharmacist, on October 12, 1936, she gave birth to Richard in late August of 1937 and Barry in May 1941. Grandchildren born to their two sons include Nicole Goldman Manning, Heather Goldman Dauel, Canaan Goldman and subsequently eight great-grandchildren. Edith and Joe spent their working years at Goldman's Pharmacy in Newark, as she became an experienced cosmetician after studying at the Helena Rubenstein and DuBarry Schools of Cosmetics, as well as at several others. They moved to Palm Coast in 1975, buying the 31st house built in the fledgling community on Clark Lane of the "C" section. During the development of Palm Coast, they actively developed the Palm Coast Community Orchestra, The Palm Coast Dance Club and the "Swingers" Golf Club, as well as many friends along the way. Edith was widowed in 1997 after 60 years of marriage and remained in her home until 2010, finally making her home at the Windsor of Palm Coast for the past five years. Funeral Services for her will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 19th at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach, FL. Interment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens. Donations are requested to be made in her honor to the Vitas Hospice Care.
