In memory of
Ed Ellsworth Ed Ellsworth passed away peacefully on October 5, 2016. Ed was born in July of 1926 in Kansas City, Mo. At a young age he moved to San Luis Obispo and remained there throughout his life. He attended San Luis Obispo High School and graduated in the class of 1944. His graduating class had 29 students. It was always fun to hear stories about the early days at the High School as he enjoyed watching his granddaughter play sports as a SLO Tiger. After High School Ed joined the Army and became a paratrooper. He was discharged in 1946 and went on to attend Cuesta College. During school he ran track and played on the football team. Ed then went on to open a corner grocery store in San Luis Obispo with his dad. It was Ellsworths Market and was well known for the butcher shop and home deliveries. It is now the Lincoln Deli and Ed's pictures still hang inside from the old market. While making deliveries he met his future wife Lilly and they were married in 1965. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing. Ed had many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid hunter for many years and that evolved into wildlife photography. He compiled over 50 albums and thousands of slides. His favorite spot was Jackson Hole Wyo. He enjoyed taking an annual trip there to take pictures of the Tetons and all the wildlife in the area. Ed and Lilly took many trips throughout their 50 years together. Another important part of Ed's life was the Caballeros ride. He would look forward to it every year, to ride a horse and see many of his life-long friends. He was a past President and member for close to 50 years. Ed was preceded in death by his wife Lilly last year. He is survived by his son, Coker; daughter Roni; grandkids Ashley, Nicki and Cody; two great-grandkids; and nephew Jim Ellsworth and his wife Corine. There will be a celebration of life from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the American Legion in San Luis Obispo. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobipso.com/obituaries
