In memory of
E. Marie Nowlan
Easter Marie Dunn-Nowlan passed away on Feb. 9, 2017, at 6:31 a.m. She was living in Portland, Ore. Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Welthy; her two children, Michael and Linda; her brother, John; and sister, Linda. She was born on Oct. 7, 1932, to parents John Cyrus Dunn Sr. and Welthy Madge Nichols in Portland, Ore., where she grew up with her three siblings: her brother, John Cyrus Dunn Jr (Diane), and sisters, Donna (Dewey) Lake and Joann (Ray) Brand. Later in life Marie sought out and found their youngest sister, Linda Joy Miller. Marie was married to Gene Nowlan and they lived in Anchorage, Alaska, for many years. Marie had three children: her sons, David and Michael Pingrey, and her daughter, Linda (Scott) Easler, who blessed her with her two grandchildren whom she dearly loves, Jaime Valdez and Nevin Easler. Marie spent many happy days with them. She has five great-grandchildren. Marie worked for many years at Alascom Communications in Anchorage, Alaska, until she retired. Her favorite hobbies were genealogy and scrapbooking. Marie also made beautiful crafts such as lampshades, pillows and floral arrangements. She enjoyed listening to good music and was amazing at "name that tune." She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed going to the temple and worked diligently on her family history. She had many callings in the church, teaching genealogy, and working with the young women, where she taught them sewing and various crafts. She loved attending relief society. She attended services at the Strawberry Chapel regularly in Anchorage and worked diligently on Genealogy at the Maplewood Chapel as well. For the last 14 years Marie resided and was lovingly cared for at Cascade Terrace Nursing Center on SE 122nd in Portland, Ore. "Uh-huh ... that's right!" became her signature phrase. Her family is very grateful to them for all of the wonderful care they gave her. Marie loved them all! Everyone enjoyed her infectious laughter. She will be sorely missed. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mout Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97086; 503-771-1117.
