DWIGHT CAUGLAN HARPER Dwight Harper was born November 1, 1924, in Oak Park, IL. He passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on February 22, 2017, in Green Valley, AZ. Dwight is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Harper Smith and grandson Gregory Prewoznik. Dwight is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Louise Harper; his brother Donald Harper; his daughters Donna Prewoznik, Gail Harper and Leslie Harper; and grandson George Groh. As a young boy, Dwight's family moved from Illinois to Southern California, during the Great Depression. His father built a house on a large plot of land. They had vegetable gardens, fruit trees and farm animals. It was a good life, during hard times. When Dwight was eligible for the draft, during World War II, he was accepted into the Navy's Officer Training School. He became an Ensign and served on the destroyer, USS Stack DD406. He attended Occidental College, during and after the war, as an engineering major. After his discharge from the Navy, he met and married Mary Louise Chandler Morrison. They were happily married for sixty-nine years. Dwight had a successful career. He was the first employee hired, when Public Storage was founded. As Vice President of Development, he traveled the U.S. and Canada, and greatly contributed to the company's success. Dwight was a generous, loyal and thoughtful man. He worked hard and volunteered his time to help organizations and people in need. He adored his wife and loved his family. He died a happy man having lived a great life.
