Duane Wilson Perkes passed away peacefully on October 10, 2016 at the Idaho State Veteran's Home in Pocatello, Idaho. Duane was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on May 27, 1943 to Asa Virgil Perkes and Ethel Belnap. He was one of sixteen children. He grew up on a farm in Leslie, Idaho. Duane graduated from Mackay High School. Duane served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North British Mission. After he was released from his mission Duane, joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Duane returned home and married Charlene McInelly. They were later divorced. They were blessed with four children. Duane held many jobs throughout his life. He spent several years working for the Forde Johnson Oil Company. He also worked for the Post Register and was most well known for taking care of the lawn in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho. On January 23, 2010 Duane married Lisa Anne Wilde. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 23, 2011. Duane loved to watch sports. He was a baseball umpire for many years and he volunteered as a coach for the youth basketball program. He enjoyed fishing and going for drives. Duane is survived by his children: Tony (Leah) of Idaho Falls, ID, April Williams of Twin Falls, ID, Karl (Tiffany) of Tooele, UT, Alma (Emily) of Blackfoot, ID, and his siblings Robert (Betty) of Mesa, WA, Jean Bowden of Perry, UT, Leon (Elsie) of Blackfoot, ID, Thomas (Francis) of Moore, ID, John (Linda) of Taylorsville, UT, Theo of Richfield, ID, Rebecca (LaVar) Powell of Rexburg, ID, Todd (Norma) of Moore, ID and Beth (Jeff) of Logan, UT, a Sister-in-law Dora Perkes of Twin Falls, ID and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa, his parents, and siblings Joyce, Richard, Don, Asa, Kathryn, and Nancy. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 in the Arco LDS Chapel located at 701 County Road in Arco, Idaho at 11 a.m. The family will meet with friends and relatives for an hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco. Funeral services are being cared for by the Anderson Family Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at the Idaho State Veteran's Home for their care and friendship that Duane received.
